Default Anyone uses Walbro fuel pump in their XJ?

I ordered a Bosch 69506 fuel pump on Amazon for my XJ6, but received (I can only assume by mistake) a Walbro AOU168 fuel pump in Bosch packaging and with Bosch paperwork. Total purchase price was 82 US dollars, and it has the filter kit with 2 screens (large and small) and 2 hose clamps. It appears to be the right fuel pump, but obviously the wrong manufacturer.

Questions I have are:

1. Is Walbro a good manufacturer?
2. For the price, is it worth keeping and using or should I return it and attempt to get Bosch instead?

Thank you for any feedback.

Oem is Walbro, you bought a reboxed and (expensive) bosch label. Airtex is the cheapest, it too is a Walbro. All of the XJ40 in-tank pumps are made by walbro, no matter what box it comes in.
Return it and get the airtex from Amazon - 1/4 price, same thing.

Larry (been there done that)

Lawrence, thanks for the info. They all appear to be about the same price range. I think I'll just keep the one I have. If it's OEM, that's all I care about, just didn't want to get hosed by some unknown crappy brand.

I just had a look too and I think the suppliers all got hip to the price discrepancies on these pumps - I think I got mine for about $30 about a year or so ago from Amazon but I see all the brands are in the same price bracket, even on Rockauto.

So yeah, may as well keep the one you've got!

The original Walbro in our '93 lasted about 170,000 miles, so I would say, "Yes," Walbro made good pumps. However, the Walbro I installed 25,000 miles ago may have failed, or else I have a problem in the wiring harness. More to come...

Cheers,

Don
