My boot release lever has recently become stuck. I can't open the trunk unless i do it from the inside electronically. I'm worried if this were to fail then i'll be locked out of my trunk and will have to cut a hole behind the plate to release it.

Anyone know why the release lever may get stuck and how to fix it? I tried to remove the locking mechanism, but since the lever is sticking out and there is no room to maneuver, i can't get it out. =(
