Default Check engine light, code Fuel 17

Hello there.

1992 Vanden Plas, 134K miles. When cold, if I don't pump the gas slightly, I get a check engine light with fuel code 17 (throttle potentiometer). Runs fine after that and I never get the check engine light while warm. Some times when cold, the engine dies, but starts right away.

So, is it the throttle positioning sensor as indicated by the fault code, or maybe some other sensor?

Thanks.

Try cleaning the TPS connector and see if that makes a difference - FF17 is a throttle pot fault code.
