I have been hearing a "chime" sound for two days . It's exactly same sound as you would hear when you forget to remove the key from the car and leave your headlamps on .But in this case you know it continually chimes until you turn off your headlamp switch and it gets silence
In my car , I insert the key and wait the lights turn on and then start the engine . It chimes once and goes off and same happens as I shut down the engine ( chime once and off ).So, is this a normal operation or yet another glitch is immanent

 

My car only chimes when I leave lights on, remove key, and open the door. Otherwise I wont hear any noise except for when I turn they key to the start/run possition. Or leave key in and open door and it screams at me.

 

Just been out to check, 92 XJ40. Lights on, open door = chimes. (close door or turn lights off).

Did you replace that faulty door switch, it could be that the car thinks there is an open door? Even when there is not.

So what happens when you start the car and then turn the lights on, and ..... then turn the lights off and stop the car (Nothing yes?)

Today, I didn't hear anything from the chime .
When I start the car with the lights on , I don't hear anything . Turn the lights off and stop the car nothing happens . (When I posted this thread there was a different story )
