Default Daimler 4.0 Camshaft Removal Spacer Block

A friend has asked me to adjust the valves on his 89 4.0 Daimler.
It appears in order to remove the camshafts one will require a special jaguar tool which is effectively a spacer block that fits on each cylinder head bolt as they are removed.
Sounds simple enough but I have been unable to find one online.
Can any folks shed any light on this please, I really want to get this job done asap.
Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately not, that tool keeps the camshaft from moving and at TDC I believe.
The tool I need is a block which replaces the camshaft caps once they are taken off one by one.

Well done on finding it.Thanks...phew thats a few quid hey but at least I can try and narrow it down now, might be easier just to take the head off and stick another new head gasket on,certainly cheaper

No worries...I just noticed that you are in the UK....I'm not sure if britishparts
Contact Details - British Parts uk ltd
have a tool rental scheme available or a local jag specialist might loan you one?

Re the Head Gasket Idea...probably a good idea as if they are anything like the 3.6Lt the originals tend to leak out near the distributor...The modern gaskets are stronger in this area..

I haven't yet really tackled the internals of my Jag engine yet as it still purrs strongly but I've pretty much done everything else on my cat including a transmission rebuild with no prior experience....Hope the info I've given helps

Jaguar Heritage also has a tool loaner program in the UK.

A number of mentions are made of the program at jaguarforum.co.uk

I know what you mean, have you tried JEC tool hire section.

BTW, you need a whole set, not just one.

I believe you are looking for:

Jag tool no, 18G 1435.

Also try cross referencing with Ford tool 303-189 (found when searching Google and came up with SPX Europe/ Germany, although they have a UK contact number)

Dummy Camshaft Caps.

Best of luck.

SPX Jaguar | Detail 12 required. They look like steel blocks with holes drilled in them to me. If you can find one or find the measurments on one maybe you can find a machine shop who will machine them for you at a reasonable rate.

I am no expert but it seems to me the only thing that needs to be spot on the numbers is the thickness of the spacer and where the holes are.
