Since your "an extreme newby" WELCOME to the real world.

You have what is known as an XJ40 XJ6, which is another forum area, BUT, dont panic, coz one of our ever friendly Moderators will move this to the correct area, I HOPE, as that will maximise your responses.

Enjoy your car and your time here, it will be fun, trust me.

WElcome, I have moved off your thread to the proper area assuming you own XJ40 as Grant Francis said

Hello:
There are a number of reputable parts suppliers, not least of which being the ones who sponsor this forum. Beyond that, I use Jagbits (google that) because they are one state over from me. Customer service is excellent and quick. They must have several XJ40s in the yard, because they've always had what I've been looking for.

Best of luck!
Scott

Well XJ6 pretty much ran from 1969 to 1994, but there was a significant change to the model in 1988.

In order to try to avoid confusion the forum follows the Jaguar Factory nomenclature by using the XJ6, XJ40, X300 designations.

The old Series XJ6's are very different to the later XJ40's, which is why Grant mentioned the move.

The XJ40 section is where you will find most help with your car.

Being "picky" coz I can hahahaha.

The XJ6 ran until 1997 ( end of the X300), then the V8's arrived, now we got XJ6 again in the newer generation saloons.

Your handbook is CORRECT, and as Translator said the forums seperate all Jaguars as best they can to assist in replies being speedy. My X300 also says XJ6.

You will understand all this as time goes by. I have been with Jaguar since 1968, and retired as their Parts Manager in 2003, and still get a tad confused.

You are correct Grant, I am a plonker, I could claim typo, but I won't. I just don't mentally group X300 series with XJ. DOH

To the OP, if you have no joy, why not try a request for used parts in your area over in the Regional section, we have quite a few members in Canada.

BTW, my XJ40 handbook also says XJ6 and Daimler and my car is badged Sovereign!
