Front Seat Belts

Front Seat Belts
Hello All,
I am in the market for a pair of Shoulder (attack) belts (GREY)complete with retracting mechanism for my 1990 XJ40.
THE STORY:
The PO installed a set of oatmeal or Beige seat belts and someone in my area said they could dye them in the grey color I needed. Sufficed to say, I removed and sent them off to be dyed.
Upon receipt of said belts, they were stiff and extended all the way.
The schmucks used Vinyl and Fabric paint to color the belts and now they are so stiff that they do not roll back into the retracting mechanism.
(Maybe it is I who was the schmuck for getting this done).
Here are pics of really, really bad work.
In the first pic, you will see that I bent the belt and it stayed bent. No flexibility at all. Also the edges are so stiff, it will cut your bear skin.

Hi Sanchez,
That's a shame. I assume you have tried bending the belts one way and then the other along their length to help restore their flexibility?
If you just can't make them work, try the Marketplace section of the Jaguar Forums for owners who may be parting out XJ40s (see the link above). It would also be worth checking eBay. If you find a seller with parts from a car similar to yours but no seatbelts listed, contact the seller via eBay messaging to ask if they have the belts you need.
Cheers,
Don

Found some through a national used parts search.
Cheapest price however is $370.00 plus tax and shipping. Seems a little high. This is more than I paid for the car. Will keep searching.
Seatbelt Solutions want $175 + tax + shipping to replace the webbing on each one. Again this is more than I paid for the car.
Will have to hit the breaker yards and see what I find.

Couple thoughts: Try David Boger at everyday.com. He has some XJ40 parts.
Then Paul's Jaguar in Ft. Lauderdale, FL has some obscure parts.
I've used car-part.com to search auto yards nationwide sometimes.

I just got back from the Florida west coast with my seat belts. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the breaker yard. They had the retractor mechanisms(the part that fits inside the door pillar complete with motor) and the seat belts( Lap and shoulder) all for the grand price of $75 per side. They even powered up the (attacker) motors to verify that they work. My original works so I now have a spare set just in case.
Thank you XJPaul again for the lead.
The interior of the car is now complete except for the door speakers which I ordered from Crutchfield, and should be here by Saturday.
Now after a month since acquiring the car its rolling beautifully.
