Help! fuel supply problem
Hi new to forum. Recently bought 91 xj40. Am having problems starting. Replaced fuel relay, dropped tank and replaced fuel pump (wasn't fun let me tell Ya) but still having intermintate starting problems. It turns over but won't start sometimes and then others its fine. It had never stalled when running til yesterday for the first time. Could it be crank position sensor? And if so where is that located? Also any links to a good electronics manuel all I have is haynes and its well a haynes enough said.
Why do you suspect it's a fuel problem? Have you done a pressure test? Are you certain that you have spark? When it stalled, did it stumble at all or just cut out completely? If it stumbled, I would suspect fuel. If it just cut out, I would suspect an electrical problem.
the vcm is coding fuel 16 fail 16. and yes it just stumbled when it was given gas it caught and contiuned to run fine the rest of morning til parked and then wouldnt start til the 6th or 7th time
its like it starts and runs or it don't. I can hear the fuel pump kick on and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. when itkicks on it runs when it doesn't it won't start and run.
