Sell it and buy a 95/96 XJR.

W/O spending a waste of cash you will never make significant hp increases.

The best you could aim at would be to return to new spec, but you will never get there, age and miles take their toll.

So, make sure that all service items and sundry parts are as good as they can be.

Just my opinion, others may differ.

Not sure what other upgrades you have done that added a lot oh hp but the Aj6 engine is pretty tough. I don't think there is much out there that will decrease it's service life by a significant amount unless you were to throw a turbo or supercharger on it and by then you have spent enough money for a new car.

There is a compnay out there that machines parts for HP increase but they are expensive. It included machining out the throttle body, adding bell stacks to the intake manifold, larger less restrictive exhaust, tweaking of the stock ecu, etc.

As said the basics is a good place to start. You already have good plugs and wires. Ensure your other working components are clean and in good shape. Clean the throttle body, air filter, even a coolant change can help, etc.

The Aj6 engine in these cars pushed out about 245 hp brand new so you are in pretty good shape. If you know a hp fix that we don't please share. I would love more hp too, who wouldn't. I just don't think there is anything out there that is going to give you enough hp to justify the cost.

If you are a purest then doing the machining mentioned above is the best bet. Otherwise you can spend the same money and put a 350 in it. My 2 cents

Interesting subject and from what I know (which isn't very much) is to increase Hp you need too things.. more cc's and/or let it breathe!... Two (conflicting) web pages on the AJ6 Engine might help you out a little...

WELCOME TO AJ6 ENGINEERING / AJ6 Engineering

or...

Problems with AJ6 "sort of Engineering" TOILET TUNE

take your pick and let us all know how you progress....good luck!

nathan:

what's a horsepower?

Just kidding... well, sort of. I thought the whole point of this was to drive these cars as slowly and obnoxiously cautious as possible!

Cheers,
Scott

Punch out the cats that are in the manifolds (will free up resistance in the exhaust side and the back cats in the exhausts most likely will still pass emissions). I dont know about after marker cams but if you add duration you wil usually gain top end power but at a slight loss in lowere rpms.
