how to stop fuel theft in valet parking
Hello Forum! I operate a repair business and my customer is asking for a locking gas cap for his 1993 XJ6/XJ40. I can't find a locking cap and he would probably lose the key anyway! He lives in a large condo with valet parking and he thinks they are stealing fuel... notices the level has dropped and has found the filler cap loose.
Any suggestions for securing the fuel door? The valet has the keys...!!
Thanks,
Richard in Dallas

I would guess you could get a VALET KEY (JLM1949) and disable the fuel door lid lock actuator. (operate it manually after the boot lid is opened and pull the trim carpet liner back for access)
Keep the boot lid locked and put the car in VALET mode (or disable the interior boot lid remote release) and DON'T give the keyfob transmitter to the attendant.
There are ways around most problems but might be an inconvenience to the owner/driver.
