I’m picking up my 93 jaguar today and what I think is preventing it from running is 7-8 month old fuel in the tank and it’s got a lot of Glasgow would one drain the tank

 

Don helped me with same question a few years ago - pick up a fluid transfer pump and a few containers for the old gas.

here's a pump on Amazon, but local hardware auto parts store will have them too.

I have used a plain syphon hose and a quick shot through a slice in the hose with an air gun.

 

You could disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail and 'jump-the-pump' relay.

Use the pump to transfer the fuel and then replace the filter. Filters are supposed to be replaced every 30K miles.

Ditto on Bob's suggestion. Here's how to do it on your '93:

The fuel pump relay is mounted near the right tail lamp behind the carpeted trim panel. Carefully pull the carpeted trim away from the inner fender, and remove the fuel pump relay from its socket.

Start the engine and allow it to run until it dies.

At the fuel rail, use two open-end wrenches/spanners to disconnect the fuel line from the inlet end of the fuel rail (nearest the firewall/bulkhead).

Slip a hose of suitable size over the fuel line and direct the other end into a catch container such as a gasoline/petrol can. To extend the fuel line to the catch container I have successfully used 5/8 inch inside diameter heater hose and a 5/8 inch I.D. garden hose.

Using a large paperclip bent into a U shape as a jumper, jump across terminals 30 and 87 in the fuel pump relay socket. If the terminals are not marked in the socket, find the numbers on the pins of the relay and match up the terminals in the socket.

Pin 30 in the relay socket is always hot with battery power. When you jump terminals 30 and 87, the fuel pump will run, forcing fuel into your catch container. Monitor the process carefully and pause to change catch containers if necessary. As soon as the fuel flow from the end of your hose becomes intermittent, remove the jumper from the fuel pump relay socket to prevent overheating the fuel pump.
