I All,
Every so often I hear the square headlights in XJ40s are interchangable. Is this true?. I have looked closely at mine and I doubt it is possible. Juust an idle curiosity question. Any comments appreciated.

Yep,that's possible . Yuo can also change exterior body parts to X300s .My opinion on the lights is that I just love square ones than roundish ones lol . Still, most guys seem to prefer "circular" lights

 

There is more to it than that. You must also change the the bulb failure modules. It turns expensive fast!

 

Seems the XJ40's came with both styles didn't they Ken? If so I'd think it would be much easier to swap if you stay in the XJ40 years. That or cut out some holes on matching vynyl for the look... It works for the rice racers.

 

As for me... I like the look of the big square ones.

 

Hmm, now that I reread you original question, did you mean between XJ40's?Like taking one set of square light off of one and putting them on another?? In that case they will swap straight across.

 

Correct, between the XJ40's they will bolt up directly. No cutting, no fitting. The bulb failure modules change between the quad lamps and the square style.

 

Hi Xj40ish, I meant right to left. I was thinking that they may be one part (cost saving). It would make sense that it wont work but it seems that it is possible to change between square and round types? I doubt that I would do that because I guess i'd have to be classified with the square preference crowd. Thanks for the responses...its always good to know you car a little better!
