Spain, france, Mexico, texas the republic, texas condfederates, texas united states.

I got the second shock installed and so far the ride is a bit firmer than it was but I replaced shocks with probably 100k on them so that is to be expected. Initial impressions are a fine smooth ride. I'll update when they settle in.

Well done. I think the fronts will probably be fine. We hear more complaints from the rears about getting soft and clanking around. The rear bushing kit that KYB provides just doesn't fit properly.

Well, here I am in San Antonio 1310 miles later. The ride was excellent the Jag didn't break

The shocks are a touch firmer than the factory shocks. The monroe's provide a smooth comfortable controlled ride down the road. Under emergency manuevers they behaved in a very predicable manner. At a cost of $58.69 each I think they are a great deal and would highly recommend them. They also include all the bushings but you do have to reuse the stepped washers for some odd reason.

Thanks for the feedback about the shocks. I´m going to order the Monroes. I can´t find them for that price unless you don´t count shipping.
My parts guy suggested I order a top plate since I´m getting that noise on one side. He said he´s seen cases where the shock went through to the gas tank. Now that would be a real shock.

I got mine from advanced auto, they did give me a military discount though. I think the over the counter price was +/- $68.00 each.

I think you'll be happy with the Monroe shocks they have a good ride. I had never heard of the upper rear shock mounts letting go and popping the gas tank

Put in the monroe rear shocks on Saturday. The top mounting plate, was indeed, broken. It was a good thing that I purchased that first. Car rides nice.
Unfortunately the next day it broke down and needs a fuel pump. Had to have it towed and the shop wants $600+ to put in a fuel pump with their parts. I can buy the same parts in a store for half the price. I can live without the labor warranty. $350 in labor to change the pump and filter.
If it broke down in TJ I could have the work done for a third of that price.
And half the price for the tow....

I have kyb on my 93 xj6 and they are good shocks. I call the dealer prior to putting them on and the service guy said they at the shop would put bilstien on but on his personal car he has kyb. I put them on and it has a great ride. I have a parts and service guy tell me that I should take them off and put on the bilstien ones. I told him they were new with less than 300 miles on them and he said any start of noise replace them. It has now been close to 1000 miles and still rides like a dream.

Well the road trip to and from Texas ended last night. The shocks have been great over all and I would purchase them again.

Even better 3300 miles on the clock for this month and not a single break down Turned in a highway average of 26.9 MPG and a smooth comfortable ride the whole time. Now I just need to get the ac recharged as it was a bit weak in the Texas heat. I'll probably worry about that when I get home from work next year though. Only 30 days left till my overseas field trip.

Man ArmyJag is your car a 3.6 or a 4.0. I just drove from Carbondale to OKC and averaged 25.8 going there doing basically 60 the whole way on cruise control. And then on the way back I did 70-75 the whole way and got about 24 MPG. What were you doing to get over 26 MPG, maybe I need to do a tune up or something. My tire pressure was even at the jag recommended PSI levels, 36 in back and 32 up front.

89 3.6 liter. I did a complete tune up on it plugs, wires cap rotor all filters tranny fluid change and filter there, diff fluid and lubed the uj's. Replaced all the wheel bearings recently. And I ran 38 psi front and 40 rear.

I used to seperate GPS units my normal one and a new setup I was testing (a car-puter) and both were within a .10 mile tolerance of each other but the odometer was about 10% off of their readings. Using that and the fuel used etc I found the mileage not relying on the trip computer lol.

So a year later and I find the Monroe's are still a good choice for me. The Jag still rides nicely down the road. It's a bit firmer of a ride now than it was originally but that is due to the addition of the 17" XK8 rims with 50 series tires. Couldn't be happier though with shocks.

Just ordered new rear springs and shocks and mounts to do the rear conversion from hydraulic suspension. When I get started on that I'll link up the new thread.

I'll be looking for shocks for my XJ6 and XJS soon myself. Considering the Boges or Monroes for the XJ6 and similar for the XJS. Looking for quality of ride over handling for the XJS as it's my DD and my 58 year old a** prefers comfort these days...
