Talking New to the forum...

Good day,

I am new to the forum, just joined earlier this afternoon. I'll make my message short or try to. As an early Christmas present my lovely wife bought me a 1992 Jaguar XJ6/ Sovereign. We are living in Wyoming and the temperature this morning was 9 degrees, before driving this morning I checked the coolant. That's where the first issue begins. I needed to know what type of coolant (OEM) was used and what can be used now. I think I might have figured that out but "now" am wondering if anyone knows where to get said fluid?

Any help would be appreciated.

Happy Holidays!!!

Welcome, 92Xj6:
I just checked the handbook from my '91, which only says, helpfully, "Jaguar Anti-freeze". Beyond that, it's whatever the mechanic puts in there!

Perhaps someone else will have first-hand experience.

Default Coolant

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your wife's excellent choice of gift! Ideally you may have to drain the coolant out completely and start fresh since you won't know for sure what is in the system now.The coolant Jaguar recommends is phosphate free which helps stop any internal corrosion from occuring.Few of the common antifreezes-such as green- are phosphate free so I finally found a brand at the import parts store-blue in color.BMW and some of the other car lines also use the phosphate free. Its not as cheap as the common coolants but if it helps slow down corrosion then it is worth it. Welcome. Go get yourself a Haynes Jaguar Repair manual. Search the internet as well and get a Jag owners handbook, all the spec info is in there.
