Retrofit servotronic/electric assist
hi I am new to this forum... I own a 2006 x type 2.0d , cut story short I had to replace the steering rack, it has been replaced from a good unit from a 3.0l petrol with servotronic.. my 2.0d doesn't have this, when I got the rack it came with part of the wiring for the actuator .. so my question is can I retrofit the wiring so servotronic works as the steering is pretty heavy with out it.
much help appreciated

Servotronic is not electric assist. All servotronic does is reduce the amount of hydraulic assistance as speed increases to retain some steering feel at higher speeds. I suspect that your rack is operating at the high speed setting all the time, you need to find a way of getting it to operate at the low speed setting all the time. Sorry cannot help further.
the servotronic makes the steering lighter around town.. at the minute mine is heavy all the time.. I have had a look at the wiring diagram and got a rough idea of the route it takes... if my car has got the wiring were would jaguar hide it ?

Here is a link to my thread, and I show a picture of the wiring diagram to the actuator. It is a "pulse width modulated"signal. Unplugged the default is hard steering thinking it is at highway speed.
