Well Lads,
Pump arrived today and I put it back inside the canister, canister into the tank, tank into the trunk, gas into the tank and guess what she started right up!
Should mention I bought an Airtex pump. In case anyone has to shop for one rest assured the pump is an OEM Walbro in an Airtex box. I think all the brands are re-boxed Walbros, I know Jim's Denso was also a re-boxed Walbro.
Got all the carpets, spare, stereo, battery back in and let's not forget the gas lines underneath - I wasn't really looking forward to that little job but the good forum advice about oiling up the o-rings and the fittings on the tank pre-assembly made it a breeze, they went in very easily.
Went for a quick test drive, just enough to warm her up so no marathon or anything, had to get back for supper, all that time sitting (?) in the trunk sure does give one an appetite!!
I'll have a longer test drive tomorrow.
Thanks again for all the support from the forum, especially Don and Jim.
Rollin again and about time too!
all the best
Larry

Hey Thanks Jim, I guess we'll wait and see?
I've got that spare FPR but I didn't stick it on yet as I didn't want to add anything *new* to the mix in case she didn't fire up after the pump and filter job. That's about the only thing on rich running checklist I haven't checked ...
I'm convinced the crap in the gas fried the pump, the bottom sock on the canister was REALLY plugged! Going to stay away from that gas station with the cheapest gas in town ...I filled up there before I ran up to your place to get the hoodliner - the next day she quit....
anyway, I'll be up soon for my bits!!
all the best mate
Larry
