Oil burning nightmare

Oil burning nightmare
I've been trying to find the source of this oil leek for a while now. This car had me beat. These forums have been very helpful (thanks to everyone) in diagnosing. I've attached a picture hoping someone knows what's wrong. Not sure if the camera shows it, but quite a bit of smoke comes up when the exhaust heats up.

Sounds like you have oil leaking either from the cam cover or the head on to the exhaust manifold.
The gipe on the cam cover isn't too reassuring, maybe invest in a new cam cover gasket set and see if that cures the problem?
You could also dis-assemble the ancillaries covering up the exhaust manifold and then reassemble minus the chrome heat shield, that way you should be able to visually spot the source of the leak ....but why not get a new gasket set anyway?
A new cam cover gasket won't leak if you install it and the half-moons properly.
BTW that stickum looks terrible and rarely seals efficiently.
edit: Of course it is possible that you had an old leak (now fixed) and that there's a residual pool of oil sitting on top of the manifold which burns as the manifold warms up ...

I put that goop there in an attempt to seal a leak that probably wasn't the main cause. I know it's not left over oil because the longer the engine runs the more smoke comes through. Nothing comes out of the rear exhaust so I know that there aren't pools of oil in the manifold. I just replaced the head gasket and the exhaust stem seals. I'm now worried the head gasket didn't seat correctly. Edit: Thanks for helping by the way

Hi jaguarguy13,
There is almost no way for the head gasket to not seat correctly if you followed the torque procedure for the head bolts. The gasket is rigid and can only be installed one way.
By far the most common cause of oil on the exhaust in that area is a leak from the cam cover gasket. When you replaced the head gasket did you also install a new cam cover gasket and use RTV silicone on the half-moon seals for the cam shaft journals at the rear end of the head per the manual?
Cheers,
Don
