Oil pressure sender reading HIGH
I just finished a major service on my '90 Majestic with 113446 miles.
Everything went well except the new replacement oil pressure sender of original design is reading high,
pegged to the extreme right on the dash gauge. I have one of the alternate pressure senders that uses the resistor.
My question; can I use the resistor from the alternate design sender (brass body, etc) to correct the signal coming from the original design sender?
Thanks,
Roger

Did your car have the PRESSURE SWITCH modification?
The Jaguar replacement part with the resistor is a SWITCH and not really a SENDER.
You might have an incorrect oil pressure transducer that is not calibrated for the car?
You can try the resistor as the sender is a GROUND for the gauge.
The SWITCH with the resistor will send a calibrated GROUND to the gauge and a transducer will send a VARIABLE GROUND to the gauge.

Yes you can, not sure of the value of the one you have but it wont hurt anything, give it a try! It will definitely stop the gauge from pinning.
Most of us with aftermarket senders like yours, use a resistor around 75 ohms IIRC ...plenty of info on this and exact values in the archive
