Default power steering hose fitting

I have a weeping high pressure hose on my 89 xj40 sovregne 4 litre power steering I located a second hand hose but on arrival it wont fit due to the fact the old hose hooked around and connected into the side of the pump where as this hose comes straight up and would need to go into an elbow on the pump My question is what size and threads are these elbows so I can order one I live in central west nsw Australia so jag bits are a bit scarce but being a mining town hydrolic parts are abundant if I know what to ask for Hope someone can help
Yours haz (Paul)

Hi Paul,

It may be unlikely that any of our members have measured the threads on those fittings, but if you can take your old hose to a hydraulic hose fabricator they can probably match up the fittings for you. Or, they may be able to use your old fittings and simply replace the rubber section of the hose with new crimped fittings.

Another possibility might be to purchase a good salvaged hose from a breaker.

Cheers,

Don

I was going to say the same thing. I had an aftermarket A/C system installed on my Wife's Jeep and now many moons later one of the lines is leaking and the company that had the information on the system is out of business.

Im just waiting for the season to end and Im going to take it off and just have the local hydraulic line company make a new one using the old ends.

Hi Paul,

I use to live in Central West NSW (Forbes). If the current hose/pump is weeping then I assume the car is still driveable? If so, take it over to your closest tractor/farm machinery service centre. Those blokes can usually come up with a plan. I repaired many a car with parts from a John Deere.

Cheers,

Stu
