Default rear shockies

Hi Guys
I am looking for a video that shows the process of removing the rear shockies on a xj40, not the self leveling model. I have seen one on the net but forgot to bookmark it and cant find it in my history as that is cleared frequently. If you have any links I would love to see them. I am getting the rear bushes replaced and I was told that the rear seat must come out to access the top nut, is this correct?

Default Rear Shocks

No ,the rear shocks come out as an assembly with the spring. If you meant the rear seat inside the car- no there is no access inside the car.All the removal is from underneath the car. They are not that difficult to remove but you will need a spring compressor to release the spring once you have the unit out from the car. I'm assuming the older xj40 shocks are similiar to the 94 that I have. If you look on JDHT you will see a breakdown of the rear suspension to give you a better idea of how they are removed.

Once they are disconnected from the body and suspension you need to turn them 1/2 turn (on the vertical axis) to clear the caliper.

My personal best time for converting SLS to normal dampers is 45 minutes (BOTH REAR DAMPERS).
I did alot of these back in the 1990s.
