Default Rebuilding early Adwest rack - Problems with pinion

Hello all, Im struggling and puzzled by my Adwest rack and rebuild kit. The output seals were majorly leaking but the pinion was fine. Anyway. I'm putting all the seals in and cant seem to fit the pinion seals. They dont seem to fit on due to the geometry of the pinion itself.I think Ive already ruïned 1 ring but I got spares.

If anyone remembers this job and can tell me how they did it? I considered heating the seals up in boiling water but would rather not waste my time or seals.

Then another, I totally messed up taking the rack apart. I didnt check the orientation of some seals. The output seals I fitted with the notched out part pointing inward, I hope this is ok?

if i remember well it was extremely tight fit, i think i have stretched them carefully before trying to fit over pinion, heating may help a bit and takes only few secs

Ive made a makeshift tool to get these seals on and they stretch massively, will this shrink back?

This has worked well, in case the link goes dead: Wrap electrical tape around the seals with increasing tightness. A hoseclamp is optional. Overnight the seals contract to their initial size and they fit in the housing.

I've ran the engine and steered and didnt notice any leakage. This is pretty surprising to me as a 1st rebuild.
