Self leveling suspension

Self leveling suspension
According to the person I bought my 89 XJ6 from, he has already modified the rear suspension to do away with the auto system. He said that the front is unmodified. The car seems to be performing well; not diving, rolling or doing anything strange in the corners or over uneven pavement. I thought I could just get rid of the reservoir that has the mineral oil in it and tried disconnecting the hoses, but when I started the car, the oil was still being pumped, so I hooked everything back up. Question; should I be concerned about this as it is? Should I remove what is there and how will it effect the suspension? What do I need to do to get rid of the reservoir and just put in regular shocks? Thanks!

Hi dskul1,
The short answer is that your brake power assist system uses the same source of pressurized fluid that the SLS used, so you can't get rid of the reservoir, pump or other components. But if your rear suspension has been converted, you already have conventional shock absorbers at all four corners.
I am attaching the Power Hydraulics manual that describes the system and should answer most of your questions.
Cheers,
Don
