Default slugish and popping

Im new here and im going to try to get everything out.
I just bought a 1992 XJ6 Beautiful car!!
Well ok to the point!
Driving the car i would come to stop it ran fine. taking back off it acts like it wasnt getting any fuel. once it got up to about 30 or 40 it would pick up and run fine until i stopped again. On my way home from work thursday night I had to climb a hill and it wouldnt pull it! It was popping back thur the breather. I rolled back to a parking lot and tried to get it to run better it went to missing and the check engine light came on and it wouldnt pull itself. so I had to have it towed. I thought it was a fuel filter so i changed it. I checked the codes on it and the codes was 24 and 48.
The chilton told me to test the sensor under the idea speed control. according to the book it checks out. I took the Ignition modual to the parts house to have it tested and it failed. BUT it wasnt grounded to anything so im not sure it the test was right. I really coould use some help guys!! please help PLEASE..... I love this car and i got it a really good deal
Thank you for reading my rambles
Amanda

You didnt put how many miles on the vehicle.but if its over 100,000 i would check that the catalitic converters are not plugged up. If so that could be your problem (the ones in the manifold plug quite easily). If they are plugged up and you keep driving you run the risk of blowing you head gasket and warping the head.

A failing fuel pump will run the engine lean and cause what you are describing (fuel pressure??). I would not worry about the IACV as much as the Ignition Drive Circuit.
More diagnosis is in order.

the fuel pressure at an idle is 36
the car has 82000 miles on it
what is a IACV?

DTC 48 is for Idle Air Control Valve or Idle Speed Control VAlve

DTC 24 is for the Ignition Drive Circuit.

You really need to post 10 times and then you can download the S91 AJ6 4.0 Engine Management System/OBD I Diagnostic Guide I posted in the download section.

It has diagnostic fault diagnosis for each DTC.

well now im getting a code 11 which is Idle potentionmeter not in operating range. What is the world is a Idle Potentionmeter, where do i find it? I feel so stupid!! i can work on american cars im this close____ to taking it out back and shooting it LOL!! i was reading the haynes manual and it was saying something about the charcoal canister having blanking plugs having to be removed. If they wasnt it would causeing it to run rough and hesitation and loss of power under a load. Im just grasping for straws here guys. I tried changing the Mass air flow sensor. nothing different. I have cleaned the gas tank out changed fuel filter, put new plugs check the dis cap, GRRrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks guys for reading my posts and trying to help

oh i cant find a down load area to down load that manual
