Default Snow Tires

Know what your thinking, drive through the winter! That's it, got no choice for now. I have looked around some but would rather hear from you guys what tire may be the best for our Utah winters.

I drive mine all winter too, but we don't get too many snow days here on the coast![touch wood] but we did get quite a bit of ice these last few years.

I run Kumho Ecsta 225/60 R16 98W all-season tires which are supposed to be fairly high rated for snow (a bit less so for rain) and they've been a good all-rounder choice for the west coast but I imagine Utah conditions would be packed snow driving most of the winter, right?

I chose my tires based on the specs and reviews I found on the Tire Rack site. The reviews etc were in depth and the site is easy to use too.

You just enter your car model and type of tire you want and it pulls up a big list of choices.
There's a few "tires" threads in the archives you could check out as well.

Let us know what you end up getting, OK?

I ran Michelin Arctic Alpin 215/70-15 on 15" XJ40 rims through four Ontario winters on my '95 X300 and consider them the best tire I ever bought. Quiet, good snow/ice/wet/dry traction, comfy 70-series ride...really suited the Jag.

I have to face the reality of living in the mountains. It snowed here about 3-4 inches and my XJ is parked until the roads clear. So its F150 time., in which case I highly recommend Michelin LTX A/T's

I ended up getting a set of Michelins, Xi2. Steering fills a bit soft compared to my Parellis, I run S turns each day on my way home from work, no cupping. 80 - 90 MPH very nice, I do notice the road noise, MPG have dropped to 21.
