Tranny Light Limp Mode - FIXED
This is not a complaint thread but would like to learn about tranny lifespan lol
So, I just 158K kilometers almost 100K miles on my clock and tranny light has been coming on the screen more usual than it did in past months .
It did become bad to worse considering when that fault happened last year I used to stop the engine and restarted , I didn't see that light and tranny kept running silky smooth job for a long time .
Now, as soon as that light appears on the dash I hear a clunk . I phoned the dealer and they said that might be normal considering the mileage (it might be abused in the past )
The car is using limp mode I assume and hardly moves and they told me I can only use 3rd gear .Turbines ,solenoids needed to be replaced
I had my tranny oil changed along with the filter as a preventive maintenance but didn't work it seems

Greetings Cadi- I "obtained" my 91 sovereign from my brother in law because of the same complaint/diagnosis. I told him after test driving the kitty that the transmission was operating exactly as it should when the light was not on (we measured shift points in both normal and sport mode). He was quoted approximately $2500-$3000 for repairs so he sold me the car rather than let it sit and rot. Keeping in mind that the car is nearly 20 years old and that most of the electrical connectors have been undisturbed for that time, disconnect your negative battery cable and remove all of the connectors under the passenger side knee knocker, one at a time, spray them out with contact cleaner and re-install them, after checking for any bent pins. This little routine has eliminated the trans limp home light on my kitty without touching the transmission. $3 vs. $3000...you do the math!
