Tranny problems
A couple of months ago I did a full tune up on my 1993 XJ6. I brought it to a shop to have the tranny fluid and filter changed. Now my tranny light is comming on intermittedly. When the light is on it is in a fail safe mode and will not shift out of 1st gear. Sometimes slow driving will make the light go out and sometimes restarting it will also make the light go out. When the light is out it drives fine and shifts trough the gears fine. The light now sometimes is not going out. I brought it back to the shop and they said they took some fluid out as I checked it and cold there was fluid all the way up the stick. One time I checked it there was nothing on the stick at all. The service guy said he put the right type of fluid in it. I don't understand the problem that I am having. Will someone please help.

Throttle position sensor. ECU gets wrong input, sends bad output to TCM, TCM selects limp home mode and illuminates warning. I have one customer who paid someone to rebuild a trans in their XJ40, before they came to my shop. The throttle position sensor isn't cheap, but now you know how to save a couple of grand.
