Default Transmission mount replacement

Hello all.
I redid the transmission mount on my (new to me) 92 XJ40.
Now the driveshaft is touching the body of the car. Approximately 5 inches from the front u-joint, there is a 1/2" joint rib on the tunnel and it is there the driveshaft is rubbing.
I now will have to take it back off and see if I did anything wrong.
I assembled Parts 3, 7 and 11 as shown in the image below.
What I did not see on the car was Part # 6 (locating weight) ,Part # 9 (Adapter Pin), Part #14 (nut) and Part #15 (washer)
There was nothing attaching the mount assembly to the transmission.
When I removed the cross member and the cable, the mount came apart in pieces.
My guess is that Part #s 9, 14 and 15 are what attaches the mount to the transmission.
Can anyone who has done this before, walk me through the process, to make sure I did not do something wrong.
As it stands the transmission is now sitting higher than it was before but all the rubber pieces were deteriorated.
Also, there were only two spacers on the driver side (left) of the cross member, the rearmost one was thicker (and had the longer bolt) than the forward one.
Is this how it should be? I read somewhere on the forum that the longer bolt and thicker spacer should be the forward one.
There were no spacers on the passenger side (right) of the cross member.
Should there be spacers on the passenger side?

Don't know if this helps but saw this on another forum -

The part that is identified in the Haynes manual as a bump stop is really
the lower spring seat for the upper spring, called a spring cradle in the
parts manual. It contains a weight to tune the assembly to a particular
resonance frequency, and sits on top of the lower spring under the foam
ring. When the mount is assembled and in place on the car, the spring cradle
is free-floating between the upper and lower springs.

Assemble the lower part of the mount as follows: in the dish part of the
large lower mount bracket, 1) the lower (outer) spring seat (rubber ring) 2)
lower (outer) spring 3) spring cradle 4) foam buffer (foam ring) 5) buffer
retainer with three bolts. Draw down the bolts, place the upper (inner)
spring in the middle, put the upper spring upper seat (rubber ring) in place
on the mount bolted to the transmission, and carefully mate the two
assemblies. Keep the upper bolt mounting the upper mount to the
transmission centered in the hole in the lower mount as you tighten the
lower mounting plate bolts. You might need to loosen the front engine
mounts and reposition the engine/transmission assembly to get it right. The
lower mount should end up centered on the car, with equal space on each side
of the bracket where it attaches to the undertray.

Is there something more simplistic. I am having trouble interpreting the above.
I have the larger part of the image (to the right) above Numbered 1 - 8 assembled as shown.
The smaller image (to the left)Numbered 9 - 15 is where I think the issue is.
I stated in my original post that the whole assembly fell apart when I removed the cable and the cross member bracket.
Based on the image above, the mount is supposed to be attached and centered to the transmission via #9, 14 and 15.
Logic tells me if it is attached this way, the springs will compress when the lower cross member bracket is installed.
As it is now, the transmission is just sitting on #10 but not attached via the adaptor pin #9 and nut #14.
Any knowledge regarding spacers for the lower cross member bracket?

Sorry, didn't pay attention when I pulled mine from the parts car but I do remember the weight (#6) being there.

I agree, the description is a bit hard to ken without accompanying pix. I'll see if there are any assembly photos on Jaglovers'

Couldn't find any decent pix but here's the order of assembly

Starting from the cross member and working UP:-
  • Spring cup, lower (large)
  • Spring seat, lower (rubber ring)
  • Coil spring, lower (white/ green colour code - larger dia.)
  • Central spring cradle c/w locating centre weight.
  • Foam Buffer
  • Buffer (retaining) ring (sometimes with travel restraint
    strap attachment)
  • Coil spring, upper (white/red colour code - smaller dia.)
  • Spring seat, upper (rubber ring)
  • Spring cup, upper (attached to transmission housing)

Thanks Lawrence. I will be taking the mount apart tomorrow and will take some pics of the process.
Hopefully someone will come along and see what went wrong.
Something just ain't right.
So far, I know the following is correct: See my comments in red.

Starting from the cross member working UP
  • Spring cup, lower (large)
  • Spring seat, lower (rubber ring)
  • Coil spring, lower (white/ green colour code - larger dia.)
  • Central spring cradle c/w locating centre weight. (This part I do not see)
  • Foam Buffer
  • Buffer (retaining) ring (sometimes with travel restraint
    strap attachment)
  • Coil spring, upper (white/red colour code - smaller dia.)
  • Spring seat, upper (rubber ring)
  • Spring cup, upper (attached to transmission housing). ( not attached to transmission housing)

I took the mount apart today. here is what I have. The complete assembly is not bolted to the tranny. The smaller upper spring seat as shown in Photo #1 is the only thing bolted to the tranny. The upper spring seat just sits on the smaller spring. When I put it back together on the car, the driveshaft was still touching the tunnel. I have temporarily resolved the issue by using 1/8 spacers between the body and the cross member. When I find the fix I will redo it.

upper seat bolted to transmission
This is the only spacer I found on the car

large spring and buffer installed
