Default Two different XJ40 underbumper panels

I am working on reinforcing the big plastic cover that fits under the front bumper on my 1994 XJ6 and I also have a different under plastic bumper cover from another XJ40 and I am wondering if anyone here can tell me why there are two different panels?
Looking at the two covers the shape of the air duct that I think is supposed to send cool air to the brakes on the 1994 cover is much more rectangular shaped whereas the other cover the shape of this duct is oval.
My 1994 car also had fog lamps positioned outside of this air duct opening whereas the other cover this is not the case.
Also note the area where the cover bolts to the front of the car just outside of the "grill" area of the cover is completely different on the two covers.
Here is a photo of the back side of the one off my 1994 car

I think this is a 1994 tray

Here is the other one I also have but don't know the exact year of car this one came off of.

Mystery year under bumper cover

I believe what you have there is a 92 and prior air dam. My 92 has the fogs bolted to the bumper and nothing but ducts on front. I would not be surprised if the underneath covers are different too but I only have one of those between both of mine so I can't compare. Usually there is a build date stamp somewhere on the back side shaped like a clock.

the 93 and 94 are effectively a ' facelift ' xj40 with lots of different components to the original xj40 , in reality the 93/94 are more like an x300 car, especially the electrical ,

i have not heard of anyone being able to successfully ' graft ' the front bumpers from one model to the other ( even though they are both xj40( xj81 )
