Rear Bumper Cover Won't Stay in Place
My 1996 XJS rear bumper cover does not remain secured to the underside of the car. I've attached a photo of a bumper cover from an Ebay auction, which shows the three small key/oval-shaped areas on the cover, but I haven't a clue as to their function. On my bumper cover I have about 4 clips that seem to have nothing to do with the "cutouts", which serve to tenuously attach the bumper cover to a ridge on the underside of the body. However, these are not effective in that they neither hold for very long, nor do they provide anything close to a secure attachment.
I expect that I am missing some other attachment bits and, in particular, missing something that gives function to the cutouts. Any help would be very much appreciated.

wsamoska,
As you've seen, the crimped metal clips lose their tension after a while and the bumper cover edge can slip out from them. I've found that the easiest thing is to use some small self-tappers on that leading edge and screw the plastic cover into place.
Cheers
