Default Tyred...

Hi, Does anyone know the correct tire size for the 1993 XJ40 as it was originally equipped with? The present tires on mine are wide, look great, and are almost brand new, but very loud regarding road noise and I'd like to put the propper ones on.

I believe from '91 and up has regular rims not 390 . '92 XJ40 is imperial

Just to let you know, I will bow out on this one. Asking what's the best tire is like asking what oil to use. You will here all kinds of arguements and testimony, and those that spout it believe everyone else is an idiot. Keep fresh rubber on the ground and change your oil regularly. Can't go wrong that way.

Bowing out??? Ken I thought we'd get the old , "Well in 1909 Jaguar put on Avon tyres, then changed them in August the 15th. I believe to...."

I have factory stock imperial 15" Rims. I'm sure they had discontinued the metric well before that, I guess that 60 series are about right, but the tires I've got although new are an obscure brand (DeanTires) and likely not good quality, better to go with a major brand like Firestones or BF Goodrich. The size of my existing tires is fine, but they are noisy. To me, good quality tires have always paid off over the long run.
