Waist finisher seals
Hi all, I've just joined the forum today, I need to change all 4 waist finisher seals on my 1994 XJ40 Sovereign. The parts are on the way, courtesy of Ebay, can anyone tell me how to remove and refit please? Regards, Jona.
If you're referring to the chrome (stainless) trim strips they are just glued on on the 94MY.
Removal of old ones? Try using a thin guitar string like a cheese slicer, start at one end and "saw" your way along.

i believe he is referring to the window seals on the chrome trim under the side windows,
if this is the case its fairly easy , on the back its a simple gently pry up and remove , but be gentle as you dont want to scratch paint or damage the trim if reusing
the front doors are a different matter, the door mirrors need removing as these trap the trims before you can pull them up , winding down the windows does help with refitting ,
i presume yours have ' blown ' rubber due to corrosion to the aluminium reinforcement inside the trim , a smear of grease to the exposed aluminium will help prevent this corrosion before you fit them
good luck

Hi, BB and Larry, thanks for your replys. Yes, the rubber on the O/S/R has severely warped and is not even touching the window, the others are not as bad, but are showing signs of distortion. I've recieved the replacements, and hope to start renewing the old ones at the next available opportunity, thanks for your guidance.

Jona.
