Personally I don't use anything fancy, but use an industrial strength degreaser undiluted of the type used in any Fast Food place.

Spray on, spot of work with a toothbrush and hose off. Clean wheels result.

Gloves and glasses are a must, this stuff will cause harm on contact with skin or eyes.

Others will have different methods.

Be carefull. Strong chemicals and detergents can damage the coating 0f mag wheels. Even chrome wheels can be damaged as well. I'm talking irreparable damage that will break your heart.

After getting them clean you may want to start using a wheel protectant such as ArmorAll. It will slow down the accumulation of dust and grime on the wheels and make them easy to clean with just a hose off. I use it regularly. However, it's only good for about 3 car washes. Longer if you keep soap away from the wheels.

There are wheel protectants being sold in Europe and elsewhere that claim to be longer lasting but they are a lot more expensive and involve a more complicated application process. I have no experience with them, just internet info and favorable reports from some a few Forum respondents.

I too got tired of black wheels but I took a different direction. When the time came I switched to low dust ceramic pads. Now I rarely have to clean my wheels. I know there are pluses and minuses to ceramics but little to no dust is a big plus in my book.

I use Protek cleaner from online site. Environmentally safe concentrated formula i dilute in spray bottle, spray on & pressure wash off weekly. Works great on painted surfaces removing bugs too.
