Default Wheel Dust Cover

Greetings!

There is some corrosion on my wheels that Ali would like to deal with, and found that my tiny soda blaster does a decent job of cleaning u without damaging the machined surface. However, my blaster is a Harbot Freight special, but is too small to do five wheels in my lifetime. My plan is to take them to a commercial soda blaster for the outside and inside, then to either Re-clear coat them myself, or have them clear powder coated.

My question is how to remove the dust cover that is on the inner part of the wheel and against the hub, which seems to be there to limit brake dust. I have not tried to force it out for fear of distorting the shape. Is there a common method for taking them out?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

TC

Generally they come out with the BFH, tap tap tap with something like a screwdriver or drift through the wheel lug holes

Larry,

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try. Curious that no dust was more important than cool brakes.

Well, my brakes stop me fine and I like the fact that my wheels always look dust free - but YMMV
