Why Was the AJ6 2.9L Unreliable?

Can anyone tell me Why the AJ6 2.9 SOHC engine was unreliable please?
They have a V12 head on them and V12's were reliable. Cheers

As for myself, I have never seen one. Not saying they are unusual, I just haven't seen one. You would probably be best starting your own thread, or searching this forum, something like "2.9 head problems"

I ran a 2.9 for a number of years, can’t say it was unreliable, a bit under powered but when I eventually sent it to the scrap dealers i had pulled he engine out for scrap value and I could still see hatch marks in the bores, 200,xxxx+ kilometers IIRC.
What makes you think they are unreliable?

As far as I know, no Jaguars with the 2.9L were delivered in the U.S.A., so you're more likely to hear from owners in the U.K., Australia and other countries that had that option.
