Hello
okay chaps I have a 1994 XJ40 front suspension set up in my hot rod.
It has ZF steering rack.
what I'm after is a drawing of the power steering rack/system .
basically I need to know where the power steering pipes on the rack go to.
As in which pipe goes where.
Offhand I dont have one, but did you check the Haynes manual in the stickies section? Or better yet, The Jaguar heritage parts site. Theyll have a blow-up of the system.
I can't tell you where all the hoses go, but I do know the large rubber hose, Part 7, connects the lower nipple on the fluid reservoir to the fluid pump, which on the XJ40 sits at the lower front right side of the engine. Hose Part 3 is the return line from either the cooler or the rack to the upper nipple on the reservoir. That leaves pipes Part 9 and 10, which connect the pump to the rack, probably by way of the cooler, which I think I recall is built into the radiator: Which ends go where I can't recall, but maybe you can figure it out by process of elimination. Maybe Larry or Jerry can have a look under their hoods and narrow things down more:
Sorry for the late response here, I hope you have it figured out already. I looked at mine, but could not see from above beyond where the ends hook in. That said, I *think* that the outboard top one is pressure, and the outboard lower is return. The 2 inboard ones go to the other side of the rack. My parts car does not have the pump with it so thats no help either.
