Hi all , I have a 1989 4.0 litre XJ40 , my question is will any ECU from a 4.0 litre car fit and be basically plug and play ? Or are they part number specific ? Take out and replace with exact part number ECU ? All and any advice welcome . Thanks Mark .

ECU's are listed in JEPC (the parts catalogue) as both MARKET and VIN RANGE specific. For Australia there is also another categorisation difference for EMISSIONS:




It never pays to be dogmatic about Jaguars. Some member may be able to report they've successfully fitted an alternative ECU.
