I'm a chippy with limited mechanical knowledge. Please help
1989 3.6 with a miss when running . Seems to have no pulse from 3rd from front harness strand. How do i check if this is so and where do i go from there ? I swapped the injectors 3 and 6 over and have eliminated crook injector from list . any advice appreciated .Thanks dan

 

Hi Dan,

You can check for the proper electrical signal to the injectors with an inexpensive noid lamp available at most auto parts stores.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, when the key is in Position II or the engine is running you should have 12V at every fuel injector electrical connector on the White wire with Brown tracer line, which you can check with a common ohmmeter with the positive lead in the injector connector and the negative lead connected to any good ground point in the engine bay. From the schematic, it appears that the Engine Control Module (ECM) grounds the injectors in pairs to fire them.

Be very careful when handling the fuel injector connectors. They become brittle with age and may fall apart in your hands. I have photos showing how to replace them if this happens to you.
