XJ40 Non Self-cancel Indicators
Hi Folks,
This is not a problem, more of an observation.
In the 7 years that I have owned and driven my 92 non airbag XJ40, the indicators have never been self-cancelling and always require me to flick them off no matter which way I am turning.
I know that I could just whip off the steering wheel to get to the switch cancel mechanism, but I have lived with this since I acquired this car, so much so that I now automatically manually knock off the indicators no matter which car I am driving. So I have no plans to delve in here.
My question is, has anyone else seen this issue on their car, or is it just one of the foibles of my 92?
Cheers, and Happy New Year to you all.

Hey Translator ,as far as I remember my '88 XJ40 was also same . However, '93 and '94s are different and if you happen to be into a '93 or '94 XJ40 , you would hear those sound quite different '86-92 turn signal stalk
1988/89 sedans use a different system switch and system for cancellation. 1990 to 1992 have a mechanical switch cancellation ring (JLM1995) with little pegs on the switch (JLM1997). Could be either both pegs are broken or a faulty cancellation ring.
My 1992 would only cancel in one direction so I kew it was the switch with one broken peg.

Hey Army, would have thought that you had learned one thing about British Classics by now, and that is, if it is working flawlessly it's only because it hasn't broken yet. LOL
