Good repair work on the wheelarch and door.

Have you had any repairs to do on the bonnet? It's sixteen years since I had my XJ40 and even then the bonnet had rotted across the front in the middle and both corners.

i have one question, about original looking:
Round headlight at VDP? Was it possible at new xj40 VDP? I bought pair from german ebay, because sometimes i like rectangulars, sometimes ronund.
I'll change them by my mood)

Yes - it's had time since getting to Finland for the salt to start the rot.

Has you Bootlid gone on the lip? Mine was so bad, I had to fit a replacement.

Generally the standard, base-level cars had the round lamps, yes, and the higher trim level cars had the rectangular. But over the years I've discovered exceptions. I think this is something that varied from market-to-market and year-to-year.

Personally I never cared for the rectangular XJ40 lamps. Too big !

Cheers

Default Fishtanks etc

Apparently US model square headlights are quite different from the European fitment - European square headlights (fishtanks) are single reflector while the North American squares are dual reflectors in a square unit.

Supposedly difficult to fit US style squares to European cars.

ps - I prefer the US squares on a '40, much more distinctive.

Have to agree on European fishtanks though, too big.

That's certainly possible.

USA-market cars generally had very few buyer options. The model lineup was minimal (compared to most other markets) and options/specification choices that were available individually for many buyers were pre-determined and standardized for USA-market cars.
