Firstly, welcome to the Forum.

When time permits please do an Intro in the New Members Area,

What is a 11U20 ballast. By the other words in your brief, I am assuming ?? the Ignition coil ballast??

BUT

What car are we playing with, 6 cyl, or V12, etc etc.

Please help us to help you with some decent information.

Also your area in the world would be helpful, as different markets have different stuff.

Just googled 11u20, and all it gave me was this post.

Grant......Pretty rude how some people post questions, and you take the time to respond back, and they just disappear and never follow-up. Very poor manners on their part.

If someone replies to my ignition questions which I posted yesterday, I will defiantly follow-up and show some appreciation.

Dwight!!!

Defiantly ????

Or definitely!!!

Apologies, I could not resist,.

Sounds like a resistor. reduces 12 volts to feet the coil and distributor. Needed at times, and not so much at times.

This use and the same in other critters always bothered me. A pure waste of energy. The resistor aka ballast just converts some of the energy to heat that just goes away!!!

Carl........It definitely defiantly in this particular situation. Apologies? No worries mate......love the humor.

I agree with you.....such a waste of perfectly good electrons......making them waste away as heat in the resistor, instead of giving more punch to the coil. Guess we could solve the problem by having a dedicated battery for the starter, and one for the ignition system. Or replace them with a Flux Capacitor from a DeLorean.

I hope someone can go to my thread about the ignition question I posted yesterday, and give me some clear wiring advice.....I have 2 of those wascully ballast resistors, and have been pullin out my hair as to how to proceed. Dern official 1977 Jag shop manual does not cover it, and the Parts Manual shows pictures of both ballasts, but with no name given them, and only a wierd number that does not match a real part number. The owners manual also gives no data on these ballasts. On top of that, the prior owner has royally jerry-rigged the wiring, and I just want to put it back right.

H E L P.......defiantly.
