I purchased a 123 ignition distributor for my 1983 XJ6. The parts salesman said it would work. Before I install it, does anyone know if it is compatible with the XJ6

 

I have had one running in my XJ6 Series 1 for the past 5 years. Definitely works.

I believe the series 1 is carburetor, the 3 is fuel injection and I think the injectors get a pulse from the coil, which is tied into the 123 distributor. Not sure if it works with fuel injection.

 

It's not clear from the info whether the standard jag one will work or if you need the IE option, so I have no idea! Hope this helps........



If it doesn't work then send it to me I'll dispose of it safely.
It's definitely something I'm going to look into buying for my series 2.

 

Seems to me that if the ECU gets the right number of pulses, it doesn't care as to the source. 123 to ECU, "firing 1, firing 2, firing 3, etc".


But, this isn't my area of expertise, if there is any at all.
