Default 1983 XJ6

Hi All,
I’m a new joiner to the forum. Having gotten my love of Jags from my father, I finally got my hands on my first one in September 2016. I purchased it from the original owner who owned it from new. He used it sparingly for 20 years until he parked it in his barn in 2003, and there it sat until 2016. It’s a 1983 XJ6 3.4 automatic. 21,000 miles on the clock. Even when it gives me trouble, it’s hard to get annoyed at it – it’s fast becoming my third child!
I just wanted to say hello, and also thank you for some insight and guidance provided here during my lurking days.

Yes, the car looks really good; they obviously don't put much salt on the roads in Ireland ! These 3.4 litre cars are quite rare. The block has narrower bores and the engine is much better for it, with head gasket failure a rare event. More than adequate performance for today's roads.

Hello again, Girv,
Very nice example of our beloved Xj6!

I'll go out on a limb here and say you're not the only one who considers your Jag as not only a member of the family, but also a dependent. Most if not all of us have given our cars names, almost all of us *Know* our cars are girls, and as you say, even if/when they give us trouble (or maybe because they do) we love them and couldn't imagine life without them.

Welcome to our playroom from ElinorB.

Hello, very nice example.

someone here is looking for the Owner's Handbook for a 3.4 XJ-6. If you have one in your glove box, you might offer him copies of the pages.

I have a copy of the Original Series 2 glove box book, I'll take it to town today and have it copied to PDF. Then someone can tell me how to have it posted for everyone/anyone who might need one.

Welcome.

Well, my car is mostly like yours, but, not quite. Nice color. The missing Leaper and the 7's are an interesting difference.

Playing catch up. Somewhat limited by the much needed rain.

Elinor,

once you have the PDF file of the Handbook, send it to JimC64 the admin, and tell him to add it to the Sticky XJ6 & XJ12 'HOW TO' quick links

I'm still in SHOCK!!
The Office copy shop wanted $182.00 to run the book through the machine, make it a PDF and transfer to a thumb drive!!

The excuse was it's so fragile it has to be done by hand rather than auto-load and that's time consuming.

I'll just have to figure out how to do it myself...

ElinorB:

Wow, that is a bunch of bucks. But, I get it.

I am sure you will figure out a path to Pdf. A rainy day project.
Scan to doc.? then convert to Pdf. But, page by page seems the only way.

I got lucky, my car came with the book. Very helpful.
