What the heck is this XJ6 model?

Did someone shorten this car, or was this factory?

That's awesome!
The old "take-out-the-rear-doors shorty", like we used to see on tri-five Chevy's back in the day. And a convertible, too!
Shorten the driveshaft, shorten the brake lines, good to go.

Yup, copped vertical in lieu of the more conventional horizontal chop.
I used to see a fairly decent tri 5 Chevy so shortened run around here for a time,.
At one time, a cottage industry existed, doing the same to a "fancy": Chevrolet, sold as a Cadillac. I forgot it's name. Lines came out fairly well.
And, way back when T and A Fords.
Side bar. The Ackerman must be way off. wonder how they steered !!!

These cars were tanks and made very well. I owned one well into the 90's and got into rear collision once. I got out greet the other driver and look at his car... the whole front was smashed and the vehicle puked it fluid and plastic guts all over the road. After seeing his car I though the back on my Cadillac must be destroyed but as I turned to look at the back of my car...there was only a 3/4 in gash in a replaceable piece of rubber on the bumper.
Since the Seville shared a platform with the Camaro some parts swapping occured.... for example the Seville's large rear disc brakes found their way on to many Camaro's to replace the drum brakes. And the Camaro's quicker ratio steering box found it's way into many Seville's. Also many had their fuel injection system removed for a carburetor which was considered better and more serviceable at the time.
Seville's, BMW 7 Series, Benz C Class and Jaguar XJ were all appealing to the same market, with the BMW 7 series the new kid on the block in the late 70's. The BMW 7 series sales brochure actually had pictures of the Seville's build quality issues right in their sales brochures. They used photos in the Borchure to directly comparing how interior bits fit. To see a competing car being ding'ed photgrapically with arrow pointing out issues was novel. Reading the text in the brochure was like reading WW2 era propaganda in a effort to diminish the enemy.
Those first generation Sevilles were nice cars. Better than a lot of people give them credit for, IMO.
I know a lot of the world still think of them as wallowing land yachts but Cadillac has (and still does) produce some surprisingly capable cars.

I wanted one at one time and came close to getting a raggedy one. Cheap ? But, it was in the hands of some druggies. So, I decided not to deal with them. As well as a bit f a dislike for the idea of a Chevrolet masked as a Cadillac.
Indeed, Cadillac has a long and honored history and has survived "lessor cars" beating the badge. Cimaron being the worst.
Why did I sell the 41 convertible, I bought real cheap, even if it was a tad ratty??? Dumb....
