Default 1986 JX6 transmission change

Hello,
please I want to swap transmission of a XJ6 VDP with XJ6 transmission.

I want to know is it an easy jib that any normal auto mechanic can do or fix it other than Jaguar expert mechanic?

Thanks

Michael

30 something years ago I replaced a torque converter drive plate in less than an hour (the second time) on a Series III XJ6.

I replaced the drive plate but installed it 'backwards' and I did not notice it until I went to start the engine.(starter did NOT engage the ring gear)

The customer was on his way so I removed the gearbox and flipped the drive plate over, reinstalled the gearbox and started the engine (WHEW)
Fastest gearbox change I ever did.

I have done dozens of gearbox replacements as well as simple repairs.
Some mechanics are good at oil changes and some can actually rebuild gearboxes!!!!!!!!!!!

Replacement is usually just nuts and bolts.
