5 min. Safety Upgrade

5 min. Safety Upgrade
The front turn signals in the front bumper of the XJ6, at least the S3, are set well back in the rubber bumper. Probably to satisfy US regulations. I stopped at the hardware store (I went to Lowes) and picked up a packet of 10-32 x 1.5" machine screws and 4 nylon 1/2" spacers to fit over the screws, I then simply removed the turn signal cover screws and popped in the longer screws with the spacers between the plastic turn signal assembly and the metal of the bumper. This moves the face of the turn signal closer to the front plane of the bumper. Note, I painted the new screw heads black to look better. This plus upgrading to new LED bulbs makes the turn signals much, much more visable. The photo below was taken with very bright sunshine on the turn signal.
P.S. I am still working on getting the turn signal indicators on the dash to work with the new EP26 flasher. I have a plan, I'll keep you posted

I did this upgrade today. Used 3/8" spacers that i had in my "you never know when you'll need this" box, and M5-08 screws in stainless steel, one and a half inches long each from ACE hardware.
the lenses are still 1/8" recessed in.
clearly these lamps are way too recessed from the factory, at least 5/8" too far back. Problem resolved with Yellow Series 3 mod.
Actually they look a lot better almost flush with the front surface of the bumper.
