Default 77 xj6 lights

The pass side lights and tail light on my 77 xj6 don't work. All three are governed by one fuse. I replaced it, but no banana. Also replaced bulbs. Help.

Jaguar didn't use a single continuous wire, there are a bunch of connectors all along the route. Any one of which can be corroded and causing the problem. Do you have the wiring schematic document "S 57"? You definitely need that. It will show you if a connector exisits but not where it is located. And you will need a 12v test light (looks like an ice pick). Start at the fuse and check for juice everywhere you can along the route.

I will get the schematic diagram. Because all three lights on the pass side are out, is it probable that the problem lies in the fuse box behind the fuse that controls all three?

do you mean the Side Marker lights and the tail lights only? or is the front Headlamp not coming on too?.

In the Series 3, (1979-1987 ) , there are two fuses in the trunk for the tail lights. They are located behind the removable inner upholstery panel, where the sunroof motor and other components are, in the wall behind the rear seat Back. There are two fuseholders with red wires. I am not sure if the 1977 is the same.

Default side lights and tail light

Jose, thanks for your question!

The only lights troubled are the three lights (all on the passenger side): (1) one side light very near the tail, (2) the other side light near the head, and (3) the pass side tail light itself. All others, including the head lamps, work fine. The rear back-up lights are OK, likewise the turn signal lights. Not sure if the brake lights come on.

Come to think of it, I did replace the passenger side headlight. It now works, but maybe I disturbed something?

I will check the fuse(s) in the trunk.

Lawrence

the brake lights only come on when the ignition switch is in any ON position. (ACCESSORY or RUN).

to check the brake lights, go to a shopping mall and look for a large glass window in a store, position the rear of car towards the glass window, press the brake pedal and look through the door mirror at the reflection on the glass window.
