Default Aerie 3 4.2 litre ignition timing question

Hi Jaguar experts!
I am trying to time my 4.2 litre. Here s my question:
I rotate my engine where it reaches 8 degres BTDC.
I removed the distributor cap and I noticed that the rotor is pointing at #6 lead. Is this correct? Should it point at #1 cylinder?

To clarify identification, are you aware that #1 cylinder is at the rear of the engine?

Cheers
DD

Are you on the power stroke of the number 1? Basic question I know, but I've overlooked basics at times.
