So I have already bought a new switch for my new (recently bought) xj6, seeing as when I bought the car, the switch was pretty much obliterated. Now the switch I bought, broke when I tried to activate the wiper fluid. Does anyone know of a reliable alternate for this part? Because everywhere I have looked has only the one Lucas wiper switch for the xj6. Anyone with cross breeding experience?

Help is greatly appreciated. I love this car and have had it for only two months. But I'm about ready to give up with all the other problems it has. Thanks

 

None that I've heard of. The wiper switch is one of the items that actually deserves the "Lucas reputation". They're not very good. Was your replacemnt new? Maybe it is still under warranty from the vendor. If it was used, well....I wouldn't expect it to have been much better than what you had.

You might be able to hook up an ordinary toggle switch to give simple on-off operation. If that interests you we can look up the diagrams and figure out how to do it.

It was new, I'll check with the mechanic that supplied me with it about a warranty. But if I do get it fixed, I'll probably be known as one of the shortest lived Jag enthusiasts anyways. 22 and and only a part time job don't mix well with beauties that require high maintenance.
