Default Annoying shake

My 80k miles XJ6 has a shake. It's almost unnoticable when cruising or accelerating slowly, but quite a lot when taking the foot of the accelerator. It's more felt at 40 mph than at 70 mph. If it's a driveline alignment thing, I don't think engine or gearbox has ever been out.

There are som days before I get underneath it, so is this a wellknown issue for this car, 81 XJ6 S3?

I found the issue. 2 of 3 U-joints are shot. So I will replace all 3. The middle bearing seems OK, but it's prudent to change as well, or do they last forever?

My own lift doesn't allow me to work under the middle of the car. So I have to borrow a lift, and would like to be prepared to minimize time on that lift. It looks like an easy job, I've replaced U-joints before. And getting it off the car looks easy as well, middle bracket and 4 bolts at each end, is it that easy?

Thanks

The propshaft centre bearing is mounted so it can be adjusted left-right. Mark up present position before removing.

Had the propshaft out, in fact all was fine except rear ujoint which was totally shot to pieces. Replaced that ujoint only, and now it runs perfect, so smooth you wouldn't believe it :-) Small repair with great effect!
