Default Another happy Pertronix customer

I can confirm that distributor D171618 Ignitor II with 45,000v coil 45011 works in an 86 Canadian spec XJ6, as I'm now running that configuration. It has smoothed the idle, which was quite lumpy. And throttle response seems crisper, especially at higher engine speeds. I haven't had it long enough to determine any change in fuel use yet.

Yes i agree, I also fitted the pertronix distributor and coil too my Xj6. It definitely smoothed my idle also, its not perfect but a lot better. Also seems crisper and sharper throttle response when coming off the idle also..

I just ordered a D177600 distributor for my '71 XJ6. Pertronix recommends the 40,000v 3 ohm flamethrower coil with this distributor, but I noticed other Jag owners recommending the 1.5 ohm coil. Does it make any difference?

Good to know Petronix is making people smile

Can someone confirm we will not need the Ignition Amplifier should we go for Petronix? Thank you!

That's correct din888, the amplifier is no longer needed. However should you remove it, be aware that one of the bolt holes in the end of the intake manifold will cause an air leak if left open.
